Event Planning & Delivery
- Plan and deliver an annual programme of fundraising dinners, community events, outreach activities and awareness campaigns.
- Develop creative event concepts that support Lonely Orphans’ fundraising and engagement goals.
- Manage event logistics, including venues, permissions, equipment, catering and on-the-day coordination.
- Prepare, monitor and manage budgets for individual events and activities.
- Secure sponsorships and partnerships that increase event income, reach and overall value.
- Track event performance and report on income, expenditure, profitability and return on investment.
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local groups, sponsors and partner organisations.
- Organise meaningful community activities, including workshops, awareness days and volunteer-led initiatives.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal teams, external partners and community stakeholders.
Volunteer Management
- Recruit, train and support volunteers for events and community activities.
- Lead volunteer inductions and provide ongoing guidance and motivation.
- Implement retention strategies and regularly recognise contributions to maintain engagement.
Marketing & Promotion
- Support the development of promotional strategies that maximise event awareness and participation.
- Coordinate with the marketing team to deliver branded materials on print and digital platforms.
- Ensure all event communications are consistent with the organisation’s identity and tone.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Conduct post-event evaluations to collect feedback and assess impact.
- Prepare event reports covering attendance, finances, and engagement outcomes.
- Recommend improvements and bring forward innovative ideas for future events.
Job Purpose:
The Events & Community Activities Officer will plan, coordinate and deliver engaging events and community initiatives that strengthen awareness of Lonely Orphans, increase donor support and build lasting relationships with communities, volunteers and partner organisations.
Working across the full event lifecycle, you will develop creative concepts, manage logistics and budgets, coordinate volunteers and partners, and ensure every activity is delivered professionally, safely and in line with the charity’s mission and values.
